A Novel Method for Simulating Soft Tissue Deformation

چکیده
This paper describes a novel method for simulating soft tissue deformation with image-based rendering. It is based on the association of depth map with colour texture and the incorporation of microsurface details to generate photo-realistic images representing soft tissue deformations. In a pre-processing step, the depth map describing the surface is separated into two distributions corresponding to macroand micro-surface details. During user interactive simulation, deformation resulting from tissue-instrument interaction is rapidly calculated by modifying a coarse mass-spring model fitted to the macro-surface model. Micro-surface details are subsequently augmented to the modified model with 3D image warping. The proposed technique drastically reduces the polygonal count required to model the scene, whilst preserving deformed small surface details and offering a high level of photorealism.

Fiber-based Fracture Model for Simulating Soft Tissue Tearing
In this paper, we propose a novel approach for simulating soft tissue tearing, using a model that takes into account the existence of fibers within the tissue. These fibers influence the deformation by introducing anisotropy, and impact the direction of propagation for the fracture during tearing. We describe our approach for simulating, in real-time, the deformation and fracture of anisotropic...
متن کاملDirect Computation of Nonlinear Soft-Tissue Deformation
A method for computing nonlinear soft–tissue deformation caused by simulated surgical procedures is presented. A mass–spring system is used to model patient individual soft–tissue. Instead of simulating dynamic behaviour, the introduced approach directly estimates the rest position of the system. Very fast and robust nonlinear soft–tissue deformation is computed using an optimization approach. ...

We study the deformation and haptic feedback of soft tissue in virtual surgery based on a liver model by using a force feedback device named PHANTOM OMNI developed by SensAble Company in USA. Although a significant amount of research efforts have been dedicated to simulating the behaviors of soft tissue and implementing force feedback, it is still a challenging problem. This paper introduces a ...

In current study, The Mesh-free method based on weak-form formulation coupled with the ultrasound imaging technique is developed. This problem consists in computing the deformation of an elastic non-homogenous phantom by numerical methods (both Mesh-free and Finite Element) and converge their results to the measured deformation by the ultrasound. The shape functions of Mesh-free are approximate...

In 4 this paper, we present an algorithm that generates natural, dynamic, 5 and detailed skin deformation from standard motion capture joint 6 angle data. The algorithm consists of two s...
